When you talk about the success of the UNC baseball program during the 2026 season, it's nearly impossible not to talk about the team's incredible pitching staff.

Scott Forbes and his staff have a loaded staff to work with, a group who literally set the tone on the mound throughout the entire season. Serving as one of the nation's best pitching staffs, the Tar Heels have a handful of guys who deserve individual recognition, but none more than right-handers Caden Glauber and Jason DeCaro.

Two of the best pitchers that the sport has to offer are being recognized for their efforts, bringing home a prestigious honor that shows just how good they both were this season.

Glauber and DeCaro earn Perfect Game All-American honors

Perfect Game announced its All-American teams for the 2026 season, as both Glauber and DeCaro made the cut.

Glauber, the Tar Heels' star freshman reliever, was named a First-Team All-American while DeCaro serves as a third-team selection.

Also named the Perfect Game Co-Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Glauber continues to put himself in a category of his own. When he takes the mound, North Carolina has been unstoppable, posting a 25-0 record thus far in those occurances.

The hope is that the Tar Heels can add more wins to that record in Omaha starting this weekend.

In terms of where he ranks nationally, Glauber has the seventh-best ERA in the country (2.20), 10th-best hits per nine (5.73), and the eighth-most victories (10).

UNC fans can officially stop worrying about losing Scott Forbes

DeCaro once again proved to be a steady presence in the Tar Heels' weekend rotation, putting together the best year of his college career thus far. He currently holds an 11-2 record with a 2.28 ERA, striking out 84 batters over his 87 innings of work. His 11 victories are second-most in the country, as he could lead the nation if all goes well in Omaha.

Oh, and let's not miss a prime opportunity to mention his clutch start in the Chapel Hill Super Regionals, a game in which he threw a complete game shutout to keep North Carolina's season alive.

Both guys are very much deserving of the individual accolades, but if you ask them, they would much rather be hoisting a national championship trophy with their teammates over the next few weeks. The good news is- both are there for the taking, as both guys will play an integral role in just how far the Diamond Heels advance in the 2026 College World Series.
