The offseason is here for Bill Belichick and the UNC football program.

As we saw last offseason, Tar Heel fans should expect plenty of changes once again. One of the biggest areas that will impact next year's roster is the transfer portal, which will officially open up for business on January 2.

Leading up to the official start of free agency, we mean, transfer portal, here's a tracker of former UNC football players who have made their intentions known (and the dates in which those announcements were made)

Devin Ancrum- Defensive Lineman (December 19)

As a freshman, Ancrum appeared in two games, playing just 22 snaps.

Tyler Thompson- EDGE (December 17)

An emerging star among the UNC football program's defensive line unit, Thompson finished fourth in the ACC in sacks. Following his career year, Thompson is now set to depart Chapel Hill and should have plenty of suitors as programs look to add established pass-rushers to their defensive fronts.

Malcolm Ziglar- Defensive Back (December 15)

A former four-star in-state prospect, Ziglar was mainly utilized as a special teams player during the 2025 season. He recorded the fifth-most special teams snaps on the team (146) and logged an additional 9 snaps on defense.

Kenedy Uzoma- Wide Receiver (December 13)

A former three-star product, Uzoma did not play during his lone season with the UNC football program.

Jake Johnson- Tight End (December 8)

Following the departure of his brother, Max Johnson, this was the expected outcome for the sparingly used tight end who also has eligibility remaining.

Davion Gause- Running Back (December 5)

After a disappointing season, Davion Gause has decided he'll leave North Carolina and enter the transfer portal. This hasn't come as much of a surprise to UNC fans, as the speedster didn't live up to the hype in 2025 for Bill Belichick. He'll now be looking for a new place to call home.

Miles McVay-Offensive Lineman (December 5)

A transfer from Alabama, McVay appeared in 8 games during his lone season with the UNC football program.

Max Johnson- Quarterback (December 5)

A remarkable comeback story after suffering a gruesome injury during the 2024 season opener, Johnson defied the odds by returning to the field for the 2025 season. Looking to claim an additional season of eligibility, Johnson will be exploring other options to continue his college football career.

Khalil Conley-Defensive Back (December 5)

Conley played just 51 snaps during the 2025 season, likely signaling that he aspires for more playing time elsewhere.

Javarius Green- Wide Receiver (December 5)

Green, who graduated from UNC in two years, will have three years of eligibility to work with. During the 2025 season, Green recorded 13 catches for 150 yards.

Jani Norwood- Offensive Lineman (December 4)

Norwood didn't see much action for the UNC football program, appearing in only one game during the 2025 campaign.

Ty White- Defensive Back (December 4)

Another sparingly-used defensive back, White appeared in four games, recording three tackles over 36 snaps played.

Khmori House- Linebacker (December 4)

The Tar Heels' leading tackler from the 2025 season, House's stint in Chapel Hill lasted only one season, as the writing was on the wall that he was unhappy and wanted to find a new home.

Jason Robinson- Wide Receiver (November 30)

A transfer from Washington, Robinson never found a role in Chapel Hill, something that frustrated some of his former teammates.

Chris Culliver- Wide Receiver (November 30)

One of the UNC football program's starting wide receivers to start the 2025 season, Culliver fell out of favor in Chapel Hill, missing the final six games of the regular season.

The talented pass catcher now hits the transfer portal to find a more significant role elsewhere.

William Boone- Offensive Lineman (October 21)

Boone left the program in mid-October in hopes of securing a medical redshirt. His return to the program was always considered a long-shot.

Yasir Smith- Tight End (October 21)

A true freshman, Yasir Smith is another player who didn't see much action in his limited time on campus.

Paul Billups- Wide Receiver (September 23)

With newcomers surpassing Paul Billups on the depth chart, the sparingly used wide receiver is also looking for a bigger opportunity elsewhere.

Trevyon Green- Offensive Lineman (September 22)

After starting 13 games during the 2024 season, Trevyon Green saw his role along the offensive line diminish greatly, leading to his decision to transfer.

Aziah Johnson- Wide Receiver (September 16)

Aziah Johnson's stint with the UNC football program lasted three games, as the former Michigan State wide receiver departed the program early in the season.
