This is NOT the news that the UNC football program wanted to hear.

The writing was on the wall for this news, but it's something that fans of the UNC football program hoped wouldn't be the case.

With the offseason officially underway, student-athletes are making their decisions on their respective futures. Some Tar Heels have already stated their future intentions, and more continue to roll in.

The latest is one that fans will be highly disappointed about.

Khmori House plans to enter the transfer portal

When the transfer portal opens up on December 2, expect Khmori House's name to be in it. His agency, A&P Sports Agency, confirmed the news that House will be looking for a third school in as many seasons.

After playing his freshman season at the University of Washington, House followed his defensive coordinator, Steve Belichick, to Chapel Hill. He instantly became the Tar Heels' leader among the linebacker unit, leading the team in tackles (78). His production on the field was outstanding in what appears to be his lone season on campus, as there was a sense that House was unhappy with the program.

What gave House's frustration away?

House was one of a few UNC football players to send out cryptic posts on social media that didn't provide any context. However, one in particular showed the sense of frustration, as House essentially threw the coaching staff under the bus for his now former teammate's departure.

What this means for North Carolina

For the second consecutive year, the UNC football program lost a standout sophomore linebacker to the transfer portal.

Last offseason, Amare Campbell departed for Penn State. Fast forward to this offseason, and the same story re-writes itself, except House hasn't found a new home just yet.

Needless to say, House will be highly-coveted by a handful of suitors on the free agent (transfer portal market). For North Carolina, they now must pivot to find an alternative solution at the position moving forward.
