The Diamond Heels have clinched their ticket to Omaha and are set to open up College World Series action under the bright lights at Charles Schwab Field.

Ahead of the start of the 2026 College World Series, the NCAA revealed first-pitch times for the opening games. North Carolina, which rolls into Omaha following a walk-off win against USC in Game 3 of the Super Regionals, will have all eyes on them as they compete in primetime.

UNC earns the Friday night primetime slot in Omaha

If you originally had plans for Friday night, this is your official notice to cancel them for another day.

Scott Forbes and the Diamond Heels will take on Ole Miss to open up the 2026 College World Series, a game that is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM EST on ESPN.

West Virginia and Troy will start the action on Friday at 2:00 PM, while North Carolina and Ole Miss will follow in the night cap. Saturday afternoon's 3:00 PM matchup is still to be determined, but the 8:00 PM EST slot has been dedicated to the No. 3-ranked Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 6-seeded Texas Longhorns.

After playing on Friday afternoon during the Super Regionals, Tar Heel fans will be thrilled to hear that they don't have to adjust their regular working plans in order to watch the game. Following a long, stressful week at the office, UNC fans will be able to decompress a little bit before the stress of college baseball retakes our focus on Friday night.

Honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way!

Should the Tar Heels defeat Ole Miss, they will play on Sunday, June 14, at 6:00 PM EST on ESPN against the winner of the West Virginia-Troy matchup. A loss would mean the Diamond Heels would be playing an elimination game on Sunday afternoon against the loser of the aforementioned game, which will begin at approximately 1:00 PM.

This is what we've been waiting for all season long, and now we are just days away from watching the Diamond Heels compete in Omaha. The hope is that there's plenty of baseball left to be played and that the Tar Heels are the last team standing on the final day of the 2026 season.
