Caleb Wilson was amped up for his opportunity to compete against the three players taken ahead of him in this year's NBA Draft class.
The former Tar Heel circles these types of games on his calendar, being ready to prove how each team made a huge mistake when they passed on him. He proved it when he went head-to-head against Cameron Boozer, outdueling the former Blue Devil for the second time in as many months, and was set to test his luck against both Darryn Peterson and AJ Dybantsa to follow.
On Monday, it was Peterson, better known as "DNP" who was held out of NBA Summer League action, and now Dybantsa follows suit in ducking another matchup against Wilson.
Washington shuts down AJ Dybantsa for the remainder of the NBA Summer League
The Wizards know how highly-anticipated the matchup between Dybantsa and Wilson was set to be. You mean to tell us that they couldn't wait one more game to shut down the No. 1 overall pick for the remainder of summer league action?!
The Washington Wizards have decided to shut down AJ Dybantsa, Tre Johnson and Will Riley for the team’s final three NBA Summer League games, Wizards summer-league coach T.J. Sorrentine told @TheAthleticNBA. Story here:https://t.co/0EUa3BSxRm

Dybantsa isn't the only player on the Wizards roster who was shut down, as he'll be joined by both Tre Johnson and Will Riley on the sidelines for the remainder of the event. As for Wilson, the plan is for him to at least play once again on Tuesday night, but he could also be on the verge of being shut down as well.
Even Darryn Peterson was left speechless with Caleb Wilson’s monster Summer League dunk
Instead of building up even more hype surrounding these guys making their way to the league, the NBA once again finds a way to dampen the mood. Wouldn't you want your future stars to be competing, drawing interest from fans across the world during a time where fans are looking for some good basketball action to watch?
One thing is for sure: Wilson wants all the smoke and is definitely pissed that the matchups against Peterson and Dybantsa didn't happen as planned. While those guys take a nice comfy seat on the sidelines, Wilson will continue to compete for as long as the Bulls let him, as that's simply the type of competitor he is.
5-star Duke commit throws UNC under the bus out of nowhere
It could be a game at a local rec center or one in front of a sold out Dean Smith Center crowd, Wilson's approach stays the same, as he always has motivation to go out there and compete.
While the main event was cancelled due to Dybantsa being ruled out, Tar Heel fans will still be able to watch Wilson compete against his former UNC teammate Seth Trimble, who could benefit from the Wizards shutting some of their key guys down. It will be fun to see those two square off against one another, especially after we witnessed them competing as teammates not to long ago.
Needless to say, both guys will love the chance to go head-to-head for the first time in their pro careers.
