At the start of the day on Tuesday, Adan Diggs sat atop the Class of 2028 high school basketball rankings.
By the end of the day, not only did Diggs reclassify to join the 2027 class, but picked up an offer from the UNC basketball program in the process.
Adan Diggs earns an offer from Michael Malone and UNC
As shared on his Instagram account, Diggs announced that he has officially received an offer from the Tar Heels. North Carolina becomes one of the latest programs to jump into the mix for arguably the best overall high school prospect (regardless of class).
Not many athletes have the talent and ability to reclassify and maintain their spot in the recruiting rankings. Diggs still sits atop the recruiting rankings, as Rivals simply changed his graduating year and pinned him at the top of their updated rankings.
With Diggs' addition to the 2027 rankings, some notable UNC targets have dropped due to his arrival in the class. CJ Rosser, who was once viewed as the top player in this graduating class, now sits at No. 2 in the rankings, while others, such as Beckham Black (No. 8), recently offered Marcus Spears Jr. (No. 9) and Nasir Anderson (No. 10) are now a spot lower than they were to start the day on Tuesday.
That's a testament to just how good Diggs is.
Jamie Shaw, the National Recruiting Analyst for Rivals, put together a great evaluation of Diggs' overall game:
Looking at Adan Diggs, you see a lengthy 6-foot-4 player with quality movement skills. He has the adequate positional size for an on-ball advantage creator, along with the fluid athletic traits and the plus length that will scale up as he continues to progress in level.
While his game expands further than just the shooting, it is his ability to rise up and knock down a shot that opens things up for him at different levels on the floor.  He is comfortable stepping into his shot off the bounce or playing off a teammate who collapses and kicks.
And while the shooting, especially when paired with the positional size and physical traits, provides an interesting floor for Diggs moving forward. However, he has also shown himself capable of self-creating off the bounce. Not only does he get his team into sets, but he also gets himself into advantageous positions to score the ball. He does not have a breakdown-type handle that is filled with counters and hesitations.
But he does have a decisive handle with a smooth pace. He plays with good balance and developing footwork, which helps him get into his spots. Continuing to identify his spots in the half-court and developing his game to be able to consistently get to those spots is the next step for him.
Adan Diggs is a special player, one who UNC seemed to be waiting on in terms of what year he planned on heading to the collegiate level. Once he made the decision to reclassify, Michael Malone and his staff wasted no time extending an offer his way, as the Tar Heels believe he could be a major addition for them to build around for as early as the 2027-2028 season.
At this point, don't be surprised if a flood of Blue Blood offers start to flow Digg's way: he's the type of player that essentially every big-name program will want to add to their future roster.
