Coaching changes can greatly impact the recruiting process for high school athletes who are looking to find their future homes.

In the case of the UNC basketball program, Hubert Davis and his staff had already begun building relationships with some of the best players in the Class of 2027, extending a handful of offers to the athletes they hope to see in Carolina Blue in the near future.

One of those top-tier talents North Carolina has had on their radar is Beckham Black, the top-ranked point guard in his graduating class. Black, like some of his fellow classmates, now had to wait and see if the new staff at UNC, led by former NBA champion Michael Malone, would still be interested in them.

For Black, he knows the intentions of the new coaching staff in Chapel Hill, who echoed a message very similar to the one the former staff sent his way.

Michael Malone and UNC reoffers Beckham Black

The interest in Black carries over to the new coaching staff at UNC, as David Sisk and AJ Jones of TarHeel247 were the first to report that Black has been reoffered by the program. This update was provided by Black following his participation in this weekend's EYBL event in Memphis.

Assistant coach Sean May was in attendance to see Black do his thing on the basketball court, as there likely is already some type of relationship between the two, given that May was a carryover from Hubert Davis' staff. While May has a handful of recruiting targets to watch this weekend, Black sits near (or at the top) of the list, as he is a dynamic player who has the makings of being a very special player at the collegiate level.

Sure, not every coaching staff will recruit the same athletes. However, when it comes to Beckham Black, there was very little doubt that the Tar Heels' interest would go away with the change of the guard in Chapel Hill. This kid is special, and UNC is well aware of just how big an addition he could be to their 2027 recruiting class.

If they can land a commitment from Black, it would be a major splash for Malone's first recruiting class at North Carolina.

Now that this year's roster is coming more into fruition, expect to hear a lot more about the high school recruiting trail, as Malone and his staff will now identify the guys whom they want to continue pursuing and those who may just fly onto their radar over the next few months.
