UNC dragging its feet with Hubert Davis is making a bad situation worse

North Carolina needs to figure this out one way or the other.

The current situation within the UNC basketball program is bad enough, as North Carolina has been the topic of discussion across the college basketball world.

However, the longer this drags out, the worse it gets, as the university has to figure out this situation before it gets even more out of control.

Letting this linger isn't fair to anyone

The longer the university fails to make a decision, the more time it allows Hubert Davis' name to be dragged in the mud.

Whether you think a head coaching change is necessary or not, Davis does not by any means deserve this type of treatment.

If UNC wants Todd Golden, it must act fast before these 2 schools jump in

If the university is so focused on making this process one where Davis isn't shamed on his way out the door, dragging this out goes against everything that stands for.

Additionally, the longer this drags out, the harder it makes it to turn back to Davis for another season. At this point, it's probably impossible to think he will be coaching the Tar Heels for the 2026-2027 season, as all this time that has passed has given the fan base and media enough time to already move onto different leadership.

Rip the Band-Aid off

Ripping off the Band-Aid hurts in the moment, as no one wants to have that feeling. However, in this case (as with anything in this type of profession), sometimes it's just easier to rip it off and face the reality of the situation.

Even one of Hubert Davis’ former UNC teammates knows it’s time for a change

The longer you let it sit, the worse the Band-Aid ripping will ultimately be.

What's the wait?

At this point, what is the hold up?

This has been rumored and speculated for days now. The university failed to back Davis shortly after the crushing loss to VCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and has let this drag out for an unncessary amount of time.

Sure, it makes sense not to take the limelight from the women's basketball program, a group that hosted NCAA Tournament games this past weekend. However, we all expected a decision to come on Monday or by today (the latest), as the university must also plan ahead for who will take over the reins of the program moving forward.

This is a lose-lose situation for everyone involved, and it is not fair to Hubert Davis, a man who has dedicated his whole life to North Carolina.
