Everyone is still on Hubert Davis watch at North Carolina and that's not a surprise at all. For the past few days, the expectation has been that the Tar Heels and the legendary player/coach will part ways. Should that happen, it's not going to be easy to say goodbye.

On an emotional level, Davis has meant a ton to the program, but at the end of the day, the recent struggles haven't lived up to the UNC standard. While some people still think he deserves one more year, the majority of people think it's time to move on.

As it turns out, even one of Davis' former teammates in Chapel Hill has publicly said the Tar Heels should bring in a replacement. On Monday morning, former North Carolina big man Scott Williams hopped on the Mac and Bone Radio Show in Charlotte and he didn't hold back with his thoughts:

Williams certainly isn't alone in his thinking here. After North Carolina appeared to be building some confidence late in the season, three-straight losses were posted: to Duke, Clemson in the ACC Tournament and then to VCU in the Big Dance.

The loss to VCU was simply inexcusable, as the Tar Heels were up by 19 points at one point and it looked like a matchup with Illinois in the second round was going to be on the way. Instead, North Carolina totally blew it and the Rams posted one of their biggest upsets in program history.

From the moment that game ended and the campaign came to an official close, countless Davis haters have voiced their displeasure and those same folks have been calling for him to get fired. At this point, it's looking like if a change does happen, it will be from Davis stepping down -- it'd be the right move for the university to let him do things that way.

The injury to Caleb Wilson changed everything for the Heels late in the season, but it's always going to be on Davis to get this team to win games and look strong doing so. That wasn't the case this March and the loss to VCU very well could end up being what sends things over the top.
