While detailing his journey from Fairleigh Dickinson to Utah and now to Chapel Hill, Brown's story offers a ton of insight into who he is, both on and off the court. In the new era of the transfer portal, fans don't necessarily have the opportunity to get to know players over the years, so articles like this are awesome for welcoming new players into the Carolina family.

In the article, Brown revealed the jersey number he'll wear as a member of the Tar Heels, sharing an emotional story that will resonate with all of us.
The story behind Terrence Brown's jersey number
After wearing No. 2 at Utah, Brown is set to wear a new number as a member of the UNC basketball program. He will wear No. 1, and there is a reason behind his choice.
“I chose that number because the Carolina visit was the only visit she (Brown's aunt) got to take with me,” said Brown. “The last number she ever saw me wear was the No. 1 UNC jersey.”
While searching for a new home in the transfer portal, Brown's aunt accompanied him to his official visit to Chapel Hill. In his photos from that day, Brown wore a No. 1 jersey (which is the typical number seen when players try on the UNC uniforms during their visit to campus), as Brown has even shared a photo with his aunt from that trip.
A few days later, his aunt tragically passed away, as the visit to North Carolina was the only one she was able to take with him.
In her honor, Brown will wear the No. 1, given its the last jersey she saw him wear. There's no doubt that she'll serve as his motivation when he takes the court, and the No. 1 on his chest and his back will remind him that she'll always be with him, supporting him in this next phase of his basketball journey.
