You've got to be kidding. That's what North Carolina fans everywhere must be thinking after news just broke that standout playmaker Caleb Wilson, one of the best players in the country, has a fracture in his left hand. Just like that, Wilson's status for the rest of the season is up in the air.

The Caleb Wilson injury news suddenly has taken a turn for the worse

How in the world did this happen? On Tuesday against Miami, Wilson suffered a 'sprained wrist' and he was able to return to action. After the loss to the Hurricanes on the road, head man Hubert Davis said there was no situation with Davis, making it seem like he was going to be just fine. Now, suddenly out of nowhere, Davis suffered his serious injury? Fans are not happy with Davis and understandably so:

Caleb Wilson Injury Update: 5-star freshman suffers devastating setback for the Heels

It's easy for people to be frustrated with Davis right now, but at the end of the day, it seems like North Carolina wasn't fully aware of the situation in Miami. That had to be the case, as Davis allowed Wilson to return to the floor despite him being hurt.

Well, that decision has obviously proven to be foolish, as no one knows when Wilson will be able to return to the hardwood. X-rays being negative at first opened the door for Wilson to return, but looking back on things, it would have been smart to sit him for the rest of that loss and play things safe.

The Tar Heels didn't and now here we are. With Wilson out of the lineup, UNC is going to be without a potential Top 5 pick for an extended period of time. Wilson was averaging 19.8 points per game, while adding 9.4 rebounds per showing.

Not having him out on the floor is going to be nothing short of brutal for this squad. Wilson was sensational in the win over Duke last Saturday, which now feels like it was three months ago after the loss to Miami and now this Wilson news arriving. Davis is going to have to work overtime to find a way to replace his production, but that task is obviously much easier said than done.
