On Selection Sunday, there wasn't many surprises for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels.

North Carolina was seeded where most people projected them to be, claiming the No. 6 seed in South Region.

While tournament projections can fluctuate, most teams who firmly have clinched their ticket have a general idea of what to expect. For North Carolina, it was going to be a matter of how the committee views them in the wake of Caleb Wilson's season-ending injury, an answer that was provided following the bracket reveal on Sunday night.

NCAA Tournament selection committee chair Keith Gill discusses UNC

Once the full bracket was revealed, NCAA Tournament selection committee chair Keith Gill spoke to the CBS broadcast team about this year's field.

Of course, the topic of the Tar Heels came up in conversation, one of the more intriguing discussion among those who follow bracketology closely. Gill revealed that Caleb Wilson's injury played a role in determining where this team should be seeded in the field.

"We spent a lot of time obviously talking about Caleb Wilson, and that obviously impacted the way we talked about North Carolina."

No surprise there!

With Wilson, North Carolina possibly could've competed for a higher seed, as a potential four-seed could've been in the cards for this year's squad. However, Wilson's absence, plus the Tar Heels' struggles down the stretch, gave the committee something to look at, as their last two games resulted in an ugly loss to Duke followed by an ACC Tournament Quartefinal defeat at the hands of the Clemson Tigers.

Let's face it: this is a much different UNC team without Caleb Wilson. You can't fault the committee for looking at this current roster when projecting their seed line, as his absence makes a major impact on the Tar Heels' title hopes.
