The ticket is punched: North Carolina is going dancing!

Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels claimed the No 6 seed in the South Region, as they'll make their way to Greenville, South Carolina, for a first-round matchup with No. 11-seeded VCU.

Going Dancing

Unlike a year ago, North Carolina was firmly in the field this go around. It came down to where the Tar Heels would be seeded and who would be included in their respective region.

As expected, North Carolina has been projected as a six seed. Caleb Wilson's season-ending injury did hurt the Tar Heels' seeding, as many saw this group as a potential four or five seed in this year's event.

However, the show must go on, and North Carolina's mission remains the same.

The others in the field

The defending champion Florida Gators are the No. 1 seed in this region and look to win the whole tournament once again. Houston claims the No. 2 seed, another tough team that came close to claiming one of the coveted No. 1 seeds.

Some familiar teams (and faces) are also included among the field. No. 5-seeded Vanderbilt features former Tar Heels Tyler Nickel and Jalen Washington, and Clemson, which defeated UNC in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, comes in as the No. 8 seed in this bracket.

Some potential good news?

Both Duke and North Carolina will be starting the NCAA Tournament in Greenville. Brandon Marks shared the history nugget below that should bring positive vibes to UNC fans.

When does UNC play?

The Tar Heels will open up NCAA Tournament play on Thursday. We'll have plenty of time to discuss the upcoming matchup, but for now, it's time to lock in on postseason action.

UNC fans: are you ready for some NCAA Tournament action?!
