North Carolina made a huge splash on the international market this week, securing a commitment from star freshman big man Sayon Keita.
If you're unfamiliar with his game (which is totally understandable given he isn't currently in the United States spotlight), you just need to watch this highlight reel to see just how talented this young man is.
Of course, Tar Heel fans have read and heard about how good Keita is (and could possibly be down the road). However, this review from Adam Finkelstein will make the addition even more exciting to think about for the UNC fan base.

Better long-term prospect than any incoming freshmen big man from the high school ranks. https://t.co/jvKkxre40D

The Director of Basketball Scouting posted the above social media post, stating that Keita is a better long-term prospect than any of the big men who are coming to the college level this year from the high school ranks.
Basically, while there are some good big men in the Class of 2026, Keita has the potential to be the very best of the group.
With Henri Veesaar's departure to the NBA, the Tar heels needed to make a big splash at the center position to fill the void. Michael Malone and his staff started building some depth in the front court while they explored potential options of guys who can come in right away and start, a list that had Keita near the very top of it.
North Carolina got its guy, and while he is still considered to be a raw prospect, the upside and potential is simply oozing out of him.
While we're still a few months away from the start of the 2026-2027 season, Keita will be one of the newcomers that fans will be anxious to see in action. With his addition to the squad, the Tar Heels starting lineup for next season looks a lot clearer than it did in the days following Veesaar's announcement to leave the college ranks, and it will be very interesting to see how Malone and his staff piece together this new-look roster that features a ton of newcomers and an insane amount of potential.
