The former Duke Blue Devil (and closet UNC fan) always likes to run his mouth about the Tar Heels, but his latest "take" is quite comical and horribly researched.
They let anyone on First Take!
This is what Jay Williams had to say when discussing the current state of Carolina Basketball:
"If North Carolina didn't have that logo, I'm not sure we'd be talking about them as a blue blood. ... I can make a case that they're not a top 5 current, relevant team in college basketball."

Sure, the brand plays a role in it, but that is due to the historic legacy that the program has built.
If UNC wasn't "relevant," why is the topic of the college basketball world the potential head coaching change in Chapel Hill? Especially during a time of year where March Madness is in full-effect, it feels like there's a lot of focus on what's brewing at North Carolina.

Who knows, maybe our definitions of "relevant" are different.
UNC is still (and always will be) a Blue Blood
Don't get it twisted: a few years of inconsistency doesn't change the fact that UNC will always be a Blue Blood program.
This sounds more like Jay Williams trying to "scare" potential head coaches away from Chapel Hill, knowing that the job is the most enticing one that could potentially be on the market.
If North Carolina goes out and hires an elite-level coach, Duke better be worried about what's to come, as this Blue Blood program will be on it's way back.
Williams had to witness UNC beat his beloved Duke in a "down time" for the program. Imagine how much he'll be crying when the Tar Heels get back to their ideal standards!
