Hubert Davis' son literally erases UNC from his mind in call-out social media post

As you would expect, Elijah Davis isn't happy with how the University of North Carolina treated his father.

Obviously, Elijah Davis has every right to be upset with how things went down with his father's firing as the head coach of the UNC basketball program.

As someone who comes from a family legacy built around the university, a development like this is heartbreaking for Elijah and his family. What makes this situation worse is how it ended, serving as a rough breakup that doesn't look repairable (at least for the foreseeable future).

Hubert Davis’s statement makes it crystal clear that UNC parting was not mutual

Shortly after the news was released, and statements were unveiled, Elijah Davis took to social media to defend his father, and got a little petty in doing so.

Elijah Davis removes UNC from his mind

The now former Tar Heel, who exhausted his collegiate eligibility at the end of the 2025-2026 season, shared the below photo on Instagram.

In what initially looks like a beautiful moment shared between the father and son, if you look closely, you'll see something very important missing from the image.

Yes, Davis photoshopped the words "North Carolina" off his jersey.

Yikes...

Before you jump to react...

Put yourself in Elijah's shoes.

As stated earlier, the Davis family legacy is one that runs through Chapel Hill, so a situation like this is one that must feel like they got stabbed in the heart multiple times. While you might not agree that he took to social media to react to the news, you can't blame him for showing love for his father, defending him at all costs.

The Davis family is definitely in a state of hurt and grieving, as this is something that must be devastating for them as a whole. While it hurts now, the hope is that time will mend the relationship between the family and North Carolina, as you can't take away all the good that Hubert Davis has done for the university as a player, assistant coach and as a head coach.
