Maxim Logue's original offseason plan didn't work out the way he (or the UNC basketball program) hoped, but the good news is that the former Tar Heel commit has found a new home elsewhere.

Logue has committed to play for Penny Hardaway at the University of Memphis. It will mark his third stop of his college career following two short stints at Oregon State and FAU.
A little over a week after landing a commitment from Logue, it was determined that the veteran big man would not be transferring to North Carolina after all. It was revealed that academic hurdles prevented the pairing between Logue and the Tar Heels, one that couldn't be rectified for him to be admitted to the university.
UNC skyrockets in the rankings thanks to major new commit for Michael Malone
Logue has played two seasons at the college level, spending a season at both Oregon State and Florida Atlantic. A Lyon, France native, Logue was expected to play a role in UNC's frontcourt rotation, as his size, athleticism, and elite ability to rebound (especially on the offensive glass) made him an intriguing target for Michael Malone and the Tar Heels to consider.
Now, Logue will take his talents to Memphis, as he will serve as a steady rim protector for Penny Hardaway to work with. While it served as a small setback for North Carolina, the Tar Heels have been pivoting to other big man targets to fill the void, as it's still very much a work in progress for Michael Malone and his staff.
Logue likely would've fit well in the Tar Heels' backup big man role, as he would've complimented incoming five-star talent Sayon Keita quite well. However, the Tar Heels will need to look elsewhere for someone to serve as depth along the frontcourt, as they already have determined available recruiting targets who could ultimately bring their talents to Chapel Hill.
