A little over a week after landing a commitment from Maxim Logue, it was determined that the veteran big man would not be transferring to North Carolina after all. Inside Carolina has reported in recent days that this might occur, and was the first to report that it indeed did happen.
Logue has played two seasons at the college level, spending a season at both Oregon State and Florida Atlantic. A Lyon, France native, Logue was expected to play a role in UNC's frontcourt rotation, as his size, athleticism and elite ability to rebound (especially on the offensive glass) made him an intriguing target for Michael Malone and the Tar Heels to consider.
However, it appears that this may have to do with something more on the academic side of things, which will halt Logue from making his way to Chapel Hill.
This is unfortunate news for the UNC basketball program but should be seen as a small setback. Sure, everyone would've loved for Logue to ending up at North Carolina, but fortunately this happened now at a time where Malone and his staff can pivot to try to find a suitable replacement either via the transfer portal or through the international prospect market.
Don't worry- Malone and the Tar Heels have been active on the market in search for more front court depth, and even have found a few dream targets who would be awesome additions for next year's squad and beyond. Expect UNC to look to add at least two big men to what they currently have in place, as there's now another roster spot to fill due to this news.
Now, it's up to the staff to piece it together, as we'll have to wait and see what their next move is throughout this ongoing offseason roster-building chess match.
