Five Tar Heels earn spots on the Chapel Hill Regional All-Tournament team

North Carolina led the way with five selections, including the Most Outstanding Player of the regional.

After dominating the Chapel Hill Regional this weekend, the UNC baseball program saw five individuals earn spots on the all-tournament team.

UNC standouts earn individual accolades for Chapel Hill Regional

The Diamond Heels saw four position players make the all-tournament team. Colin Hynek, who provided the big swing of the bat to help UNC battle back against ECU in the 1-0 game, was voted as the catcher for the all-tournament team, while Erik Paulsen rightfully earned his spot at first base along with being named the Chapel Hill Regional Most Outstanding Player.

Jake Schaffner, who was outstanding in essentially every aspect this weekend, represents the Tar Heels as the all-tournament team shortstop, while Owen Hull, who has been a lethal force offensively in the middle of the Diamond Heels order, earned his rightful spot in centerfield.

On the mound, who could argue with Ryan Lynch's selection. The right-hander set the Tar Heels up tremendously for the weekend, throwing seven shutout innings in the Chapel Hill Regional opener against VCU, putting together a dominant outing that allowed Scott Forbes the luxury of not overtaxing his bullpen.

Of course, you can make the case that some notable Tar Heels deserved some recognition, especially the likes of Gavin Gallaher and Caden Glauber, but of course, you're never going to earn every single spot of an all-tournament squad. The guys who did earn the accolade are very much deserving, each having played a significant role in UNC's success throughout the Chapel Hill Regional at Boshamer Stadium.
