You know, sometimes things just work out the way they're supposed to.
North Carolina winning the Chapel Hill Regional was the main objective for the Tar Heels this weekend, and it was even more fitting that Erik Paulsen was on fire at the plate in his first NCAA Tournament action at UNC.
If you haven't heard the story of Paulsen's journey to Chapel Hill, one that features the heartbreaking loss of his father nearly a year ago, you definitely need to check out the video below.
Before his passing, Erik Paulsen Sr. accompanied his son to his official visit to UNC, and definitely agreed that becoming a Tar Heel was the best decision for his baseball career.

This weekend, Paulsen's guardian angel was smiling down as he earned individual accolade for his impressive weekend.
Erik Paulsen tabbed as the Chapel Hill Regional Most Outstanding Player
The junior first baseman was named the Chapel Hill Regional Most Outstanding Player, a fitting honor for a player who was outstanding all weekend long.
In the Tar Heels' opener against VCU, Paulsen got the Tar Heels on the board first with an RBI double. He would add another RBI on a single in the eighth inning, capping off a 2-4 day at the plate that also included three total RBIs, a walk and a run scored.
The following day, Paulsen added two more hits to help UNC clinch a spot in the Chapel Hill Regional finals. His sacrifice fly in the fifth inning gave UNC it's first lead of the day, a huge momentum shifter for the host team.
Paulsen wasn't done, adding another two hits and two RBIs in the title game. Let's not forget his stellar defense at first base, a huge reason why the Tar Heels rank among the best defensive teams in the country overall.
In total, Paulsen recorded six hits in 12 at-bats during the regional. He drove in six runs, scored two of his own while showing his patience at the plate, drawing two walks.
The script couldn't have played out any better for the Tar Heels and Paulsen, who still have plenty of work to do in order to reach the goals they've set out essentially since he committed to the program last offseason.
