More baseball will be played at Boshamer Stadium this season!

Scott Forbes and the Diamond Heels clinched a Super Regional berth for the third consecutive season, defeating ECU in the Chapel Hill Regional final on Sunday afternoon. Regardless of what transpires in the other region, North Carolina will serve as the host for the next round.

After ECU defeated VCU 10-0 earlier in the day, North Carolina knew that they had to get the bats going early to put the pressure on the Pirates. Already working with a taxed pitching staff, ECU turned to Ryan Towers, their starter from Friday's regional opener, in an effort to keep their season alive.

Well, the Diamond Heels had other plans, forcing ECU to turn to ace Ethan Norby in the second inning already trailing.

By the end of the third inning, North Carolina built an 8-1 lead, one that ECU wouldn't threaten.

Folger Boaz got the start for the Tar Heels and looked sharp early on, pitching into the fourth inning. After getting into a bases loaded jam, Scott Forbes showed he wasn't playing around, turning to stud sophomore Walker McDuffie to get the Tar Heels out of the jam.

Three pitches later, McDuffie got the ground ball the Tar Heels needed, one that resulted in a 6-6-3 double play to end the frame.

While McDuffie would falter a bit in his only full inning of work, the Tar Heels still had a comfortable cushion to work with. Little did they know that freshman Jackson Rose was set to come in and be absolutely lights out to close this one out.

Rose threw four no-hit innings, allowing just one walk. He needed just 41 pitches to record 12 outs, as the Pirates had absolutely no answer for the left-hander.

UNC capitalized on some costly ECU mistakes early, punishing them for allowing them extra opportunities at the plate. North Carolina stomped on ECU's throat from the onset, giving them essentially no hope at forcing a winner-take-all game on Monday.

Now, the attention turns to the Super Regionals, as North Carolina is just two wins away from punching their ticket to Omaha. It won't be easy, but you know this team will be ready to play when they take the field next weekend at the Bosh.
