Did the Tar Heels make the cut for arguably the top guard that this recruiting class has to offer?

It wasn't the summer that Nasir Anderson was hoping for, but that hasn't stopped him from taking the next step toward his dream of competing at the next level.

Sidelined due to a hip injury during the summer, the five-star guard has been working to come back better than ever. While he grinds to return to the court at full-strength, he's also taken the time to weigh out his college basketball options.

That process has started to pick up some steam, as Anderson is ready to move forward with a set list of schools.

Five-star Nasir Anderson narrows his recruitment to 10 schools

Anderson will now focus on 10 programs in his recruitment, with Michael Malone and the Tar Heels claiming one of those spots.

Along with North Carolina, Anderson is still also considering the following programs: Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Providence, Syracuse, Tennessee, UConn and Virginia. He is currently working on scheduling his official visits, and the belief is that his recruitment might just play out into the spring.

The Tar Heels might just have a leg up in this recruiting battle as it continues to heat up. Anderson has made it know that he has always been a big UNC fan, and it's possible that his fandom could play a role in his final decision.

As is likely the case with most of this year's high school recruits, they are probably waiting to see what this new era of Carolina basketball looks like with Michael Malone now running the show.

North Carolina has been extremely active on the recruiting trail, especially with regards to the Class of 2027. Malone let it be known that the Tar Heels don't plan on taking a backseat to anyone, and are looking to add the best talent that is available out there.

Nasir Anderson certainly falls under that category!

Let's face it: UNC is looking to make a huge splash on the recruiting trail to show that they aren't all just talk. Expect North Carolina to be heavy players for the top-ranked recruits in the country, as the goal seems to be landing multiple five-star talents this recruiting cycle.

Nothing makes a statement more than being able to haul in an absolutely loaded recruiting class during your first official circuit!

The Tar Heels are acting differently as this new era is starting. During the Hubert Davis era, North Carolina did land some five-star players, but ultimately seemed to shy away from going hardcore after those top-tier guys.

Now, Malone has the money to work with and the coaching pedigree to back his pursuit, offering student-athletes the opportunity to play on college basketball's biggest stage while also having a successful NBA resume under his belt that will help these players reach their ultimate goals.
