It’s Friday! As we close out the work week, there is still plenty of North Carolina Tar Heels news and notes to talk about!

Congratulations everyone, we have almost survived the first work week of the 2023 calendar year!

In honor of Jones Angell and Adam Lucas, I think it’s only fitting to start your day off with a tune that has become a popular trend on the Carolina Insider Podcast.

Now that you’ve enjoyed some Rebecca Black, let’s talk about some North Carolina Tar Heels news. We’ll begin by discussing a very important official visit that is taking place in Chapel Hill today.

Ian Jackson visiting North Carolina

The No. 2 rated player in the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports, is expected to make his official visit to Chapel Hill today.

This is a very big visit, as Jackson is said to be close to finishing his recruitment. As most reports speculate that it’s a two-team race between Kentucky and the Tar Heels, this may be the last opportunity to convince Jackson that he wants to come to North Carolina.

The 1K Club

On Thursday, Deja Kelly became the 39th UNC women’s basketball player to score 1,000 career points.

It’s been a memorable week on the 1,000-point scorer trail, as RJ Davis joined it the night prior.

This had me thinking: it’s incredible how many student-athletes have accomplished this milestone wearing the Carolina Blue.

With 81 men’s players and 39 women’s players, the University of North Carolina now has a total of 120 1,000+ career point scorers in its illustrious history. This is just a reminder just how many special basketball players have made their way through Chapel Hill.

Bacot inks interesting NIL Deal

Armando Bacot is no stranger to NIL deals, but this one to me is really cool given the company’s motive behind it.

BOA Nutrition, a North Carolina-based company, has partnered with both Bacot and Duke’s Jeremy Roach to tap into the greatest rivalry in college sports.

If you’re looking to sell a product in that area, utilizing the North Carolina/Duke rivalry is certainly a good way to start.

Ivory Latta Joins ACC Network

Former UNC women’s basketball star and two-time WNBA All-Star Ivory Latta is set to join the ACC Network as a college basketball analyst.

If you’re interested in seeing Latta on television, tune into the ACC Network on Sunday, January 8, as she’ll make her debut during the network’s tripleheader coverage beginning at noon EST.
