UNC Baseball: Honeycutt accepts USA Baseball Training Camp invite
UNC baseball standout Vance Honeycutt has accepted an invitation to this year’s USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp.
For the first time since 2017, the UNC baseball program will be represented at the annual USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp.
Standout freshman center fielder Vance Honeycutt has accepted his invitation to attend the camp, which will take place in North Carolina. The training camp will feature 48 to 50 of the premier non-draft eligible college players, as these prospects will compete in a five-game, Stars vs. Stripes, intrasquad series from June 30–July 4.
After the training camp concludes, a 26-man Collegiate National Team roster will be put together, as they’ll represent the United States at Honkbalweek Haarlem in the Netherlands from July 9 to 15.
Honeycutt is the first Tar Heel since Gianluca Dalatri (2017) to be invited to this prestigious camp. After his outstanding freshman season, it shouldn’t be surprising that Honeycutt is included with this elite group of talent.
The Salisbury, North Carolina native quickly burst onto the scene in Chapel Hill. He became the first 20-20 player in program history and broke Devy Bell’s single-season home run record in the process. He also was ranked among the top freshman in the country in multiple statistical categories.
For his efforts, Honeycutt has already earned multiple Freshman All-American honors. He was a season-long highlight reel for the Tar Heels and played a major role in helping the program advance as far as it did this past season.
