The college football season kicks off in about three-and-a-half months, and it will be here before we know it. We are now just under 110 days until the season actually kicks off and we are really started to get excited.

College teams are finishing up their springs and NFL teams are right in the middle of workouts. With football on our minds, we decided to take a look at the upcoming season for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Let’s take a look at player No. 17, a tight end who will be relied upon on more after a spring injury shook up the depth chart.

Position: Tight End

Hometown: Cornelius, North Carolina

High School: Hough

Last Season: Tucker only appeared in four games last season due to an injury he suffered against Duke in the team’s fourth game of the season. Before the injury though, Tucker looked to have a breakout season catching six balls for 100 yards.

Why he might move up this list: This was not supposed to be Tucker’s spot. However, after what looks like a season-ending injury to presumed starter Brandon Fritts, someone has to step up and be a playmaker over the middle for UNC.

At 6-foot-2 and 255-lbs, Tucker has the size and has shown the play-making ability necessary to be that for the Tar Heels in 2018.

Why he might move down this list: Tucker isn’t guaranteed to be the starter next season. The loss of Fritts opens up a battle and Tucker will be in consideration along with several other guys, including Jake Bargas.

Bargas finished last season with eight catches for 72 yards and is two inches taller than Tucker.

Prediction: With the Fritts injury, I do believe Tucker will get the most time at tight end due to his playmaking ability which offers more than Bargas does.

Fritts is a reliable target for the Tar Heels quarterback and finishes the season with 32 catches for 515 yards and four scores.
