The college football season kicks off in about four months, and it will be here before we know it.

The NFL Draft has come and gone and some former Tar Heels are now the newest members of the professional organization. With football on our minds, we decided to take a look at the upcoming season for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Let’s take a look at player No. 19, a sophomore safety who has an eye for the ball.

Position: Safety

Hometown: Upper Marlboro, Maryland

High School: Henry A. Wise

Last Season: Despite not playing in the team’s first two games, Wolfolk had a pretty good season last year playing mainly as the teams nickelback. He finished with 24 tackles, 11th-best on the team, and two interceptions, tied for second-most on the team.

Wolfolk’s best stretch came against Notre Dame and Virginia where he had 10 tackles and a pass deflected. His best game last season came in the Tar Heels final against NC State where he finished with eight tackles and a pick.

Why he might move up this list: Wolfolk got better as the season went on and finished the season on a high note. With the graduation of Donnie Miles, there is an open spot at safety next to Myles Dorn for more playing time.

Even if he cant beat out JK Britt for the position, the nickelback position is almost a starting position on its own and there will be plenty of opportunities for Wolfolk to shine.

Why he might move down this list: Despite have some big games and decent stats, 75 percent of his tackles all came in three games, all losses for the Tar Heels.

Additionally, he only had two deflected passes last season. Though that could have as much to do with the number of passes thrown his way, that still isn’t great.

Prediction: As much as I like the idea of continuing to have a safety core that goes on for Myles and Myles (as opposed to Miles and Myles), Britt had a good season last year and it doesn’t seem like that Wolfolk will replace him in that spot.

However, I do see him holding down the nickel job and improving in that area. Let’s say he gets 65 tackles and five interceptions and shores up the slot defense that has been an Achilles heel for the Tar Heels the past few years.
