UNC Recruiting: Five-star big man lists Tar Heels in top 10
Five-star prospect has Duke, North Carolina among 10 finalists
Armando Bacot, a five-star prospect in the class of 2019, has become one of the most sought after high school players in the country.
Since receiving his first scholarship offer in June of 2016, Bacot has gathered more than 40 offers. Included in those two dozen-plus offers are some of the biggest names in college basketball.

Baylor, Clemson, Duke, Harvard, Kansas, Miami, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Oregon, UCLA, VCU, Villanova, Virginia and Virginia Tech have all extended offers to the talented big man.
Bacot is just a junior at Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia, and his college decision is still a ways off. However, it appears that he is ready to begin the process.
Last night, Bacot eliminated all but 10 of those schools, and the University of North Carolina made the cut.
The list, which he announced via Twitter on Wednesday night, also includes Duke, Kansas, Georgetown, Oklahoma State, UCLA, VCU, Villanova, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
After recent visits from class of 2020 prospect Mark Williams and 2018’s top shooting guard Romeo Langford, as well as strong interest from a pair of 2019 five-star prospects in Vernon Carey and Wendell Moore, it’s just another indication that North Carolina is back on the right track.
The Tar Heels are also considered the favorite for Darius Days, who will announce his college decision on Friday afternoon.
Bacot is a 6-foot-10, 225-pound power forward who is currently ranked No. 16 in the 247Sports Composite. He’s considered a top-5 player at his position and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Virginia.
He had a breakout sophomore season in which he averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game for Trinity en route to the VISAA Division I state title. He was subsequently named to the 2017 All-Metro boys basketball team.
