Former UNC Basketball player Pete Nance officially signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers this week for the upcoming 2023-2024 NBA Season.

Former UNC basketball forward Pete Nance has been given an opportunity to play at the next level in the National Basketball Association following his performance during the NBA Summer League.

According to CavsNation, the details of Nance’s contract have not been released at this time, but it is speculative that he has signed an Exhibit-10 deal. Nance had an impressive Summer League for the Cavaliers, helping Cleveland to an NBA Summer League championship while averaging 7.2 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game. He didn’t see as much playing time as other players, getting only 20.6 minutes per game. Nance did just enough to impress the Cavaliers front office to get an invite back to the team for the start of the 2023-2024 season and have a chance to make the team.

Nance is the son of Larry Nance, who spent six seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 1988-1994 and was an NBA All-Star two times during his time in Cleveland. His No. 22 jersey is retired by the Cavaliers.

Pete Nance only played one season in Chapel Hill, transferring to join the UNC Basketball program for the 2022-2023 season after spending the first four years of his college career at Northwestern University.
