Twitter reacts to NCAA ruling on the University of North Carolina
It’s a big day for the University of North Carolina and its fans, what with the announcement coming from the NCAA that no major penalties or sanctions would be handed down to the school.
After three-plus years, the investigation that led to the school’s constant public scrutiny as well as the loss of numerous recruits, is finally over.

And still, the Tar Heels managed to accomplish what most programs can’t, even when not under the NCAA’s microscope.
Over the past two years, the Tar Heels have won 66 games and appeared in the national championship each season. And in 2017, North Carolina won its seventh national championship in program history.
Now, having overcome the NCAA’s inexcusably long investigation while still maintaining the school’s tradition of excellence on the court, players and fans alike are thrilled.
Check out some of the Twitter reactions from players, fans and media after the NCAA made its announcement on Friday morning that the Committee on Infractions hearing panel could not conclude that the school had violated NCAA academic rules.
Current North Carolina point guard Joel Berry II and former Tar Heels’ point guard Bobby Frasor both put in their two cents after the announcement:

College basketball experts and media types had some thoughts on the matter as well.
From the start, it was clear NCAA rules did not cover this matter. What a colossal waste of time and money when NCAA knew it had no case. https://t.co/xpeJXv5gr5

The @NCAA has no jurisdiction over academic matters & would of gotten destroyed if #UNC decided to sue. Waste of time & a lot of $$$.

UNC paid more than $18 million in legal fees in their academic scandal case.

And then came some of the more humorous reactions:

NCAA: “Here is your punishment.”
— Will Brinson (@WillBrinson) October 13, 2017
UNC: “No.”
NCAA: “Don’t mess with us we’ll give you more.”
