Tar Heel fans are going to get to see an NCAA Tournament rematch before the 2026-2027 season even gets started!
Courtney Banghart and the UNC women's basketball program announced another exhibition game on their schedule, as a trip to College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins on October 24.

North Carolina gets its preseason schedule underway on October 18 when it hosts Davidson at Carmichael Arena. Six days later, the Tar Heels will travel to compete against their former ACC foe in what will be their final preseason tune-up before heading to France for the 2026-2027 season opener.
The Tar Heels defeated the Terrapins in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament in Chapel Hill. However, the team that will play in this meeting will look very different, especially since the four leading scorers from that game (Elina Aarnisalo, Lanie Grant, Nyla Harris, and Indya Nivar) have all left Chapel Hill this offseason.
This will be a highly competitive exhibition game for the Tar Heels as they prepare for the new season. Playing on the road will also help prepare the group for the upcoming international trip to Paris.
While teams don't have many preseason opportunities to compete against other programs, you have to make the most of the exhibition games you do have. Courtney Banghart and her staff will use these games to experiment with different lineups and get a better sense of what the team can do as a unit.
