Things simply didn't work out for Kyan Evans in Chapel Hill. While it's unfortunate, it's the harsh reality of the transfer portal- while some fits end up being perfect, others are far from it.
Evans is still a very talented basketball player. Reagrdless of how his lone season in Chapel Hill went, Evans still will be a highly-sought after player in the transfer portal, as many programs in the country are looking for a capable score-first guard.
One of those programs that has shown heavy interest in Evans makes a lot of sense as a potential fit, and has a proven track record of reviving the careers of former Tar Heels who struggled in Chapel Hill.

On Tuesday, Evans made an official visit to Minnesota, a very intriguing landing spot for the rising senior guard. The reason for it being intriguing is that his former head coach at Colorado State, Niko Medved, is now the head honcho at Minnesota.
If anyone knows how to get the most out of Evans on the basketball court, it would be Medved.
This past season, Medved helped Cade Tyson get back on track following a season in which he struggled to even earn playing time as a Tar Heel. Tyson went from being sparingly used to extremely important, averaging 19.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per-game in his final season of college eligibility.
When it comes to the transfer portal, finances play a large role in where student athletes decide to commit. Tyson is the perfect example of how important the actual fit, coaching and play style matter, as Medved was a much better fit for him than Hubert Davis proved to be.
As Evans explores all his options, you'd have to think that Minnesota ranks high on his list. If he does reunite with his former head coach, Evans could be the next former Tar Heel to have a resurgence during his senior season.
