Sometimes, not all transfer additions work out the way you hope they would.
We saw it last year with Cade Tyson, a guy who couldn't even earn his way off the bench given his struggles shooting the basketball. Tyson left North Carolina for Minnesota, finding his groove as one of the country's top shooting threats.
When Kyan Evans was brought in from Colorado State, the hope was that he'd take UNC's PG1 job by the horns. Unfortunately, it never felt like Evans was the right fit for what North Carolina was trying to accomplish, making this decision one that we all saw coming.

Considered to be one of North Carolina's biggest transfer portal additions last offseason, Evans arrived in Chapel Hill with a reputation of being a talented score-first guard. Hubert Davis and company had visions of him becoming a true point guard who could not only score but facilitate as well, but it never seemed like Evans was truly comfortable in this role.
After averaging 10.6 points per game during his sophomore season at Colorado State, Evans' numbers took a major dip. He averaged just four points per-game as a Tar Heel, losing his starting role while becoming essentially a non-factor down the stretch.
Unfortunately, Evans couldn't live up to the numbers he produced at Colorado State, as it's safe to say that various factors played a role in his struggles during what likely will be his lone season as a member of the UNC basketball program.
Of course, Evans might consider coming back if Michael Malone convinces him to stay. However, Evans will likely pursue other options, citing the head coaching change at North Carolina as a reason to seek a fresh start ahead of his senior season of eligibility.
