Doug Gottlieb is simply trying to break the internet with his latest claim!
While making a guest appearance on Colin Cowherd's podcast, the Green Bay head coach, and former media personality, provided a very juicy rumor about the connection between Tommy Lloyd and North Carolina.
Doug Gotlieb has UNC fans talking with his latest Tommy Lloyd intel
While Cowherd attempted to dispute the rumors that Lloyd would leave Arizona to head to Chapel Hill, Gottlieb stopped him in his tracks to let him know that there's definitely some smoke to this potential pairing.
In fact, Gottlieb indicated that UNC called in the big guns to help recruit Lloyd to North Carolina.

" That's the working rumor in college basketball: Arizona doesn't have that much money. There's some fracture in the relationship there with his athletic director, and I was told that Michael Jordan called him two nights ago. So that's the working rumor."
If this is proven to be true (and, of course, you have to take everything you hear with a grain of salt until it's actually confirmed by the big-time sources), this would indicate that Tommy Lloyd is UNC's guy. It also shows that they are willing to do anything (and everything) to lure him to North Carolina, calling in a favor from the program's biggest alum to help strengthen their case.
Let's face it: at this point in time, it seems like Tommy Lloyd has separated himself from the pack as the guy that everyone believes will take over the reins at North Carolina.
If this Michael Jordan calling him rumor is said to be true, that would all but confirm that North Carolina has put all its chips in on Lloyd as the guy they want to become their next head coach of the men's basketball program.
There's no doubt that Tar Heel fans hope this rumor is true!
