Courtney Banghart simply refuses to stop adding elite talent to the UNC women's basketball program.

Just days after landing five-star Micah Ojo, the Tar Heels have struck again on the recruiting trail, securing a commitment from five-star wing Ryan Carter and adding another major piece to what is quickly becoming a loaded 2027 recruiting class.

Carter, a 6-foot guard from Pennsylvania, the No. 13-ranked player in the Class of 2027, chose the Tar Heels over Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Duke, and Indiana. She gives Courtney Banghart a second five-star commitment in the past week, after No. 6 Micah Ojo on Oct. 8, and a third five-star backcourt signee after Kate Harpring (2026) and Nyla Brooks (2025).

UNC adds another star to its already loaded future roster

Give credit where credit it due: Courtney Banghart and her staff have been absolutely killing it on the recruiting trail!

From Brooks to Harpring to now the duo of Ojo and Carter, UNC is building quite the foundation for the future. Carter's addition is another big-time get for North Carolina, another player who is incredibly versatile and can impact the game in a variety of ways.

Last season, Carter averaged 17.1 points and 7.4 rebounds, leading Friends' Central School to its first Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association championship. She followed up with stints on the Nike EYBL circuit with Exodus NYC and played on the gold-medal-winning USA basketball team at the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup.

Already known as an aggressive scorer, Carter used the summer months to help balance her game out. She served as a lead guard for her team, expanding her playmaking ability and court vision. She's a player who thrives in transition, but can also capitalize in the half-court setting by getting to the basket at an elite level. Not only is she a force on offense but is a lengthy guard who can cover multiple positions, adding even more versatility for Banghart and her staff to work with.

If you haven't realized it yet, Banghart and the Tar Heels have strategically recruited players who aren't limited in terms of what positions they can play.

This is yet another incredible addition for the UNC women's basketball program. Not only is this influx of five-star talents helping build the future of the program in Chapel Hill, but it's putting the country on notice that the Tar Heels are set to make even more noise then they've had throughout the Banghart era thus far.

The scary thing is: this might not be the last addition to the 2027 recruiting class for UNC, as they are still in the mix for a few other players who could want to join the program as well. Regardless, expect this recruiting class to rank among the country's best, and might just take the top overall spot before its all said and done.

Hold up, let Courtney Banghart COOK!
