The road to Omaha officially goes through Chapel Hill for Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program.

The Diamond Heels have claimed a top 8 national seed, which guarantees they will host through the Super Regionals if they are able to advance to that point. North Carolina earned the No. 5 overall seed in this year's tournament, and will host a rather competitive field of teams to kick-off NCAA Tournament action later this week.

Revealing the Chapel Hill Regional

The Chapel Hill Regional gets underway on Friday. North Carolina will play the second game of the day, as they'll take on the fourth-seeded VCU Rams at 5:00 PM EST. The other game of the field will feature the second-seeded Tennessee Volunteers and the three-seeded ECU pirates, a game that is scheduled to begin at noon.

We knew that the UNC baseball program was set to host at least through the opening round of the event, as the top 16 teams were revealed in no particular order on Sunday night. Now, we know the seedings of each team, and although the Tar Heels didn't claim a top-four seed that many expected them to, you can't complain about earning a top-eight national seed, allowing the opportunity for the Tar Heels to not have to travel until a potential trip to Omaha in a few weeks.

We'll have time over the next few days to go in-depth about the bracket and UNC's potential path to Omaha, but for now, it's time to brace up for another fun stretch of postseason baseball at Boshamer Stadium.

Some things in life just make total sense. One of those things is when NCAA Tournament games are played at the home of the Diamond Heels. Now, the hope is that UNC has more wins in them to make that push to not only get to Omaha, but to be in the mix to while the whole thing by the time the 2026 season comes to a close.
