UNC hiring Chuck Martin could help Michael Malone land this coveted transfer

Martin may ultimately help his new school bring in a recruit whom he played a big role in bringing to his own school.

The hiring of Chuck Martin to Michael Malone's coaching staff at UNC is an absolute game-changer, considering Martin's success on the recruiting trail.

In fact, Martin was instrumental in helping Arkansas secure back-to-back top-five recruiting classes, something that should bode very well for the Tar Heels as they transition to this new era. Martin is a proven recruiter who has shown no signs of slowing down, as his presence in Chapel Hill might just be enough to convince a former Razorback standout to follow him to North Carolina.

Karter Knox could follow Chuck Martin's path to UNC

After two seasons at Arkansas, Karter Knox announced on April 3 that he would be entering the transfer portal.

Knox, a former five-star prospect from the 2024 recruiting class, was recruited heavily by Martin, who followed John Calipari from Kentucky to Arkansas. After building a strong rapport, it would make all the sense for Knox to now follow Martin to Chapel Hill, as the pairing is one that be extremely logical to keep together.

This past season, Knox was limited due to multiple injuries, and was sidelined down the stretch due to season-ending surgery on his meniscus. While on the court, Knox continued his consistency, averaging 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per-game. He shot the basketball extremely well, knocking down 46% of his shots from the floor and nearly 38% of his attempts from beyond-the-arc.

Knox would be a solid addition for Michael Malone's first roster at North Carolina, as he's an athletic wing who could impact the game on both sides of the floor. While the injuries this past season are a bit of a concern, if he gets a clean bill of health, this is a guy who could take his game to the next level heading into his junior season.

We already know he has Chuck Martin's stamp of approval: now we'll have to wait and see if the duo reunites in Chapel Hill.
