UNC fans won't be thrilled with the rough start time for the CWS semifinal

With a berth to the College World Series Championship Series on the line, Tar Heel fans are going to have to adjust their daily schedules to tune in.

The Diamond Heels are just one win away from clinching a spot in the 2026 College World Series Championship Series, and now await the winner of Tuesday's contest between Troy and West Virginia to determine their opponent for Wednesday's finals.

How the format works is simple: if UNC wins on Wednesday, they advance. If they lose, there will be a winner-take-all game to determine which team makes it to the national championship series.

While you would think that a bracket finals game would be at a time where people could actually watch, the Tar Heels' first-pitch time on Wednesday is absolutely brutal for the fans who plan on watching.

UNC fans will be annoyed by the Bracket 1 Finals start time

The Diamond Heels will play at 2:00 PM EST on Wednesday, right smack in the middle of everyone's work day!

We already know how passionate Tar Heel fans are, and we know they will have alternative plans to make sure they are locked in from 2:00 PM EST until the final pitch. However, it's annoying given the magnitude of the game that it is right in the middle of the day, making it difficult for everyone to watch.

Now, we aren't your boss, and don't claim to be. However, we think this is a very justifiable reason to leave the office early on Wednesday (or to use a sick day if you have extra to spare).

UNC forces Pat McAfee to taste serious humble pie after the win vs West Virginia

Just as a fair warning: if the series extends to Thursday, it's very possible that we could be in the same predicament. If the Bracket 2 finals goes to a winner-take-all game, that game would be in the night slot on Thursday, leaving the UNC game in essentially the same time slot.

While we all hope the Diamond Heels take care of business on Wednesday, just make sure you have a backup plan in place (just in case!).

For now, enjoy Tuesday's games and figure out your plans for Wednesday afternoon. Who knows, maybe Scott Forbes will provide us all with a letter that we can provide to our employers to excuse us from work in the afternoon!
