It's hard to put into words how much this sucks right now for North Carolina and Hubert Davis. With the Duke game coming on Saturday, plenty of us were still hopeful that Caleb Wilson would suit up. Now, we instead know that he has likely played his last game with the Tar Heels.

UNC receives devastating Caleb Wilson injury news that fans will hate to hear

In stunning news, it has been reported that Wilson broke his right thumb during a non-contact drill in practice on Thursday. He has already undergone surgery and he'll now hit the ground running in his rehab. With that, though, his season is over. We're all getting robbed of seeing Wilson in the NCAA Tournament, which is downright deflating for so many people.

Caleb Wilson injury update: UNC star now out for the season due to a broken thumb

It was bad enough that Wilson has been out for a little while after breaking a bone in his left hand. This latest news really has come in from out of nowhere and it was something that absolutely no one was prepared for. As you might have been able to guess, UNC supporters are in total shock right now:

There are many more social media posts just like that one, as so many folks out there indeed can't believe what has happened. Wilson has meant so much to the program in his lone season with the team, averaging nearly 20 points per game.

With how much he cares about UNC too, you know he's got to be in the dumps knowing that he won't be able to help the Heels go on a deep run in both the ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. Moving forward, things are going to be quite complicated for Hubert Davis and his team.

Plenty of eyes are going to be on Henri Veesaar and Seth Trimble to help lead the way. Look for Luka Bogavac, Derek Dixon, Zayden High and others to step their game up too. Them picking up the pace will be great to see, but it doesn't take away from the fact that Wilson will be forced to cheer on his teammates from the bench. This latest news sucks, plain and simple.
