Well, this certainly isn't something we expected leading up to the Duke game. While there's been nothing finalized on his status, plenty of North Carolina fans have been hoping that standout Caleb Wilson will rest up this weekend and get himself back to full health for the ACC Tournament.
UNC's Caleb Wilson injury decision vs. Duke made easier thanks to Miami
However, other plans might arrive instead? On Thursday, head man Hubert Davis spoke to the media and it looks like Wilson is still pushing to get on the floor to take on the Blue Devils come Saturday night. Per Davis, his freshman phenom is still making strides in his recovery, but how things go in practice the rest of the week will play a huge role on things.
“He is progressing,” Davis said. “Obviously, he’s been doing individual workouts and since we played on Tuesday, we didn’t practice yesterday. We’ll practice today. He’ll do more, but other than that I don't have any other additional information.”
Davis added that he has ‘no idea’ on whether or not Wilson will play on Tuesday, but he also let everyone know he has not been ruled out. Those most recent comments from Davis came after Jon Rothstein reported earlier in the day that the UNC head coach had told him there’s still a chance Wilson will be good to go.
Hubert Davis tells me that "there's a chance" Caleb Wilson (hand) could play on Saturday in North Carolina's game at Duke depending on how the next two days of practice go.

Davis on Wilson: "Nothing is definitive".
Has not played since 2/10.
Averages 19.8 PPG and 9.4 RPG.
Caleb Wilson injury update: Hubert Davis still doesn't know if his star will play or not
There's a race against the clock for Wilson to get himself ready to play, but depending on how he feels over the next couple of practice sessions, it may end up deciding whether or not he's on the bench in Durham or with his sneakers laced up in trying to take down the Blue Devils.
When North Carolina and Duke faced off earlier this season, the Tar Heels were down double digits, but a miraculous upset over the Blue Devils was posted. The game-winner from Seth Trimble right before the end of regulation is something that will never be forgotten.
Now, these two sides are getting ready to dance once again and No. 1 Duke no question has revenge on its mind. Regardless of if Wilson plays or not, Duke is favored to post a head-turning win, which will only give Jon Scheyer and his group more confidence ahead of the ACC Tourney.
However, the Tar Heels are ready to humble the top team in the country and that job will only be made easier if Wilson can play at Cameron Indoor Stadium. It'd be a risk and from our chair, it'd be smart to let Wilson rest and shake off some rust next week instead. That's up to Davis, though, and it's clear that he's still got a tough decision on his hands.
