UNC can't touch this potential Hubert Davis replacement with a 10-foot pole

Stay far, far away from this move.

Nothing is set in stone, but the reports of late strongly hint that North Carolina and Hubert Davis could end up deciding to part ways. If that does happen, Davis needs the proper send off he deserves, as he has meant so much to this program both as a player and coach.

On top of that, Bubba Cunningham is going to have to make one of the most important decisions of his life in finding a suitable replacement. There are some dream candidates we have in mind to replace Davis, but the one we're talking about here is not on that list.

ESPN's latest Hubert Davis report hints his UNC days are numbered

Yes, that'd be Gonzaga head coach Mark Few, who has done some incredible things in Spokane. At one point, he could do no wrong for the future Pac-12 school. That's no longer the case, as the Bulldogs have failed to live up to the hype in recent years. This was on full display with Few getting outcoached by Sean Miller, losing to Texas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Few to Chapel Hill next? No thanks.

Mark Few to UNC can't happen if the Tar Heels and Hubert Davis part ways

Had this been a few years ago, then sure, maybe we'd be open to the idea, but not anymore. Few and Gonzaga haven't played at the same level, with back-to-back second-round losses getting posted in March. Is he a basketball genius? Certainly, but he's also 63 years old and the Heels need to bring in a different kind of excitement.

It's a wild thought to not have him on a short list, as Few is a Gonzaga legend and he has made the program well known across the country with two trips to the title game in the past decade. The man has also never missed the NCAAT in 27 years with the school.

Still, the buzz on him has cooled down a bit. North Carolina fans are of course quite familiar with Few, as his Gonzaga team took on UNC in the national title game back in 2017. Would you like a reminder of that? Here you go, and make sure to watch Justin Jackon's dunk at the end please:

Yeah, we could watch that video on repeat. How in the world was that nine years ago? It's a fresh reminder that when North Carolina is operating at a high level, it can be the best team in the country and post thrilling wins in style.

We've got nothing but love for Davis - again, he is a UNC legend and that's never going to change. Should he move on after the loss to VCU, then a home-run hire needs to be made. Going with Few would be the opposite of that.
