Everyone is anxiously awaiting an actual decision from the University of North Carolina regarding the future status of Hubert Davis.

ESPN's bombshell Hubert Davis report hints his days at UNC are numbered

While it's expected that a change will be made, nothing has been set in stone yet by the university. Until they actually make an announcement, the speculation will continue to build among the fan base and college basketball followers alike.

Even though the reports that have surfaced seem to indicate that this decision is already made (or at least determined), key stakeholders at North Carolina continue to deny that notion.

Bubba Cunningham breaks his silence

Bubba Cunningham, the current athletic director at the University of North Carolina has us all guessing about what's to come.

Cunningham spoke to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports about the situation, basically indicating that no decision has been made just yet.

Over the next few days, Cunningham will be meeting with administration, including Chancellor Lee Roberts. Cunningham cites that they will "evaluate all aspects of the school's basketball program and will continue to have discussions over the coming days."

UNC chancellor clears up Hubert Davis rumors with everyone waiting for final decision

If you were expecting an immediate announcement, don't hold your breath.

Nothing is finalized... yet

The likely outcome is that we hear some news at the early part of this upcoming week.

There is certainly a timeline to have this situation rectified one way or the other. If a head coaching change is in the cards, North Carolina wants to get their next coach in place presumably at the start of the transfer portal opening, which occurs the day after the national championship game.

While that might not be logical (given the Tar Heels are expected to pursue top-tier coaches who might be focused on their team's current March Madness run), North Carolina won't want to wait to long to get everything situation.

For now, discussions are still being had, and based on what Cunningham had to say, the university may still be mulling over its options on how to proceed.
