The intrigue from the 2026 NBA Draft lottery is still being talked about, as some fans are over the moon with how things shaped out, while others are still down in the dumps. For North Carolina fans, they've been all over things, as Caleb Wilson is bound to be a Top 5 pick.
Post-lottery mock drafts seem to have a consensus landing spot for Caleb Wilson
The majority of mock drafts following the lottery have him going No. 4 to the Chicago Bulls. So, he'll follow in Michael Jordan's footsteps after their respective time in Chapel Hill? Yeah, the UNC faithful would sign up for that right now.
However, could a surprise arrive come draft night for the Tar Heels superstar? With the Utah Jazz holding the No. 2 overall pick, they're presumably going to go after either AJ Dybantsa or Darryn Peterson - it will depend on who goes No. 1 overall to Washington. With that said, could the door be open for the Jazz to shock everyone and take Wilson instead?

- Yaxel Lendeborg to OKC at 12 makes too much sense
- Keaton Wagler and the Clippers would be A+ for both sides
- It’s Caleb Wilson or Darryn Peterson at 2 for the Jazz
- Aday Mara to Atlanta 👍
- I think the Kings should swing for Mikel Brown Jr. at 7
Caleb Wilson keeps seeing his NBA Draft stock rise after an incredible season with UNC
So, you're saying there's a chance here? Let's go ahead and assume Dybantsa goes to Washington with the top pick. After all the injury concerns that followed Peterson this past season during his lone campaign with Kansas and Bill Self, could that force Utah to pivot a bit?
Peterson has all the talent in the world, but due to some lean years of late for the Jazz, this is a pick that the front office simply has to knock out of the park. While Wilson did suffer a season-ending injury with the Heels, it came on a freak practice accident - he also broke a bone in his hand, but again, it happened on a one-off play.
When fully healthy, Wilson proved to everyone that he was one of the top players in the country and no question a diaper dandy. His true freshman year was one for the record books, as he won over everyone in the city and state, not counting Duke supporters, of course.
Once the NBA Draft does get here, barring a stunner, Wilson will hear his name called within the Top 5 picks and it will be a moment everyone will be celebrating. If he does end up with Chicago, it would be oh so sweet for several different reasons. But, could a move to Utah end up being on the way for him instead? It'd be a bit of a surprise, but also an honor he'd be deserving of. Once Utah is on the clock, the drama here will only go up.
