With all of the excitement surrounding UNC bringing in Michael Malone, don't forget for a second that Bill Belichick has been on his grind on the football field for the Heels. With that, it includes Belichick also looking to make some splashes out on the recruiting trail.
A 2-sport star from New Jersey has committed to North Carolina
This past weekend, he brought in Georgia offensive lineman Shavezz Dixon for an unofficial visit and it looks like things could not have gone much better for him. Things went so well, the 6-4, 325-pounder told 247Sports' Anna Adams that Carolina is the new leader in his recruitment. Could the big-bodied playmaker give Belichick the news he's hoping for this summer?

Bill Belichick is on commit watch for OL Shavezz Dixon after his recent North Carolina visit
While we still have to wait a little bit for Dixon to make his final call, it sure looks like things are moving in the right direction for the Heels to land the youngster. It would be a massive get for Belichick, as Dixon has picked up 23 offers this cycle.
The Peach State product, who is set to announce his decision on July 8, holds additional offers from Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Texas A&M and many others. As you can see, several powerhouses are putting in serious work to potentially sign him, but it's now UNC in the driver's seat.
Thus far for the 2027 class, Belichick and the Tar Heels have picked up verbal commitments from four players: safety Charles Roberts, linebacker Tasheem Butler, running back Isaiah Stephens and athlete Skylar Robinson. With it only being April, the number of pledges is expected to explode as we get closer to the summer months.
In early July, we'll know for sure where Dixon ends up committing to, but North Carolina indeed is in a tremendous spot to potentially take him off the board. Several other schools are going to work to prevent him from picking the Tar Heels, but after Dixon's trip to Chapel Hill, it sure looks like that's going to be a difficult task for other programs out there.
