This is just one that's going to sting for a little while. North Carolina has been a bit inconsistent to start the new year, with the 14-point loss to SMU only being made worse with a late meltdown to Stanford on Wednesday night.
Postgame Hubert Davis quote somehow made the loss to Stanford worse
Sorry, but this was a game the Tar Heels had no business losing. Also, where were the in-game adjustments from head man Hubert Davis? Unfortunately, him not mixing things up has become something the UNC faithful have gotten way too used to.
Davis also giving Jonathan Powell limited minutes? Make it make sense. As you might have been able to guess, fans were not happy with Davis after the final whistle, with countless people taking to social media to let him have it. Unfortunately, people once again are questioning if he's the right man for the job.
North Carolina fans are livid with Hubert Davis following the loss to Stanford
Stanford just kept running the same offensive set late in the action, yet UNC had no answers there. Davis decided to just stick with the game plan when it was clearly not working. That's what has so many people pretty dang upset right now.
The Hubert Davis era is over. He is going to turn a Caleb Wilson-Henri Veesaar frontcourt into a 6-8 seed. He is now 0-2 vs Stanford. If you’re still defending Hubert, ask yourself - have u ever felt like we’ve had a distinct coaching advantage at any point over the past 5 years?

If it weren’t for Hubert’s run in his first year, he’d be gone by now. He’s a bad recruiter, a poor player developer, and flat-out not the coach for a top program.

I have never been a "fire the coach" guy.

Fire Hubert Davis and the entire staff. I don't care if they are "family."
They had their time. They got a $14 million roster.
They continue to do what they have done.
Please fire Hubert Davis.
literally any other coach would be fired. not one single coach is worse at finishing games than hubert davis. they loss every single one of these games pic.twitter.com/SdW0BgveQR

Hubert Davis has to go, bruh. Sorry. $22M roster with no shooting, no PG and no perimeter defense. He’s has time, I’ve seen enough. pic.twitter.com/dOsbSTpBHk

We truly do have to have a serious conversation. We are fraudulently ranked 14 don’t even mention that.

The Hubert Davis experiment is a viscous cycle. We constantly blow leads, give up career highs every week, and don’t ever score in the last 5 minutes. This problem isn’t new.
After watching the presser, I’m even more out on Hubert Davis. He’s just not the guy. And it’s another year he’s the center point of the joke. People get caught up in the “Carolina Family” and we should just support him blindly and ignore the product we get each week

There are many more posts just like the ones above. What's wild is that North Carolina is ranked No. 14 in the country and before the recent losses, things were looking pretty darn solid for the team. However, the loss to SMU proved to be an eye-opener, with things only made worse thanks to the Cardinal.
It's now on Davis to mix things up, especially with Cal next up on the schedule. Duke just used a spirited defensive effort to take down the Golden Bears, but will North Carolina follow suit? We hope so, because if Davis and Co. suffer another loss, even more calls will be coming in from people to let him go. There's time for UNC to get things back on track, but it's on Davis to make that happen.
