You know what they say, "there's no place like home!"

Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels have secured another transfer portal commitment in this cycle, making it four new players who will head to Chapel Hill to continue their college basketball careers.

The latest addition hits very close to home, as the family ties make this one even more special.

Gabby White commits to North Carolina

After her official visit on Monday, Gabby White didn't need much time to decide that she wanted to continue her career at North Carolina. She committed to Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels following her one season competing at Virginia.

Now, you may be wondering what the family connection is. White is noneother than the daughter of Associate Head Coach Joanne Aluka-White, as the mother-daughter pair will now have the opportunity to be on the same team.

What a special moment it will be for White and her family, given that Chapel Hill has been home for them since Aluka-White joined the staff back in 2019.

A three-time all-state selection at Seaforth High School in Pittsboro, White initially committed to Virginia with the intention of keeping her relationship with her mom separate from her playing career. After one year at Virginia, White had a change of heart, realizing that Chapel Hill is, in fact, the right place for her.

We all remember the heartwarming moment this past season during UVA's Play4Kay game, where the Cavaliers showcased a video of White talking emotionally about her mom, who is battling breast cancer. The mother and daughter shared an emotional hug on the court, a moment that truly captured their relationship.

Some things just make total sense, and White coming home to play at North Carolina is simply one of those things.
