We just have two words to say...

LEAGUE. HER!

Indya Nivar selected in the 2026 WNBA Draft

After three seasons at North Carolina, Indya Nivar is set to fulfill her lifelong dream of playing in the WNBA. The Apex, North Carolina native was selected by the Atlanta Dream with the No. 28 overall pick in the second round of this year's draft.

Nivar becomes the first Tar Heel to be drafted since Stephanie Watts back in 2021. She becomes just the third UNC women's basketball player to be selected over the past decade, as Paris Key broke the previous seven-year drought with her selection back in 2019.

Let's remember: UNC has had some excellent players in recent memory who didn't accomplish this feat! Goes to show how truly difficult it is!

Nivar did a little bit of everything during her three years in Chapel Hill, serving as a steady presence who was willing (and able) to do whatever it took to win games. Whatever Courtney Banghart needed her to do, Nivar was up to the challenge, as her type of production might not have always shown in the box score, but it certainly was well on display when she was competing, laying it all out on the line each and every night.

It's safe to say WNBA scouts took notice, and Atlanta was the team to take a chance on Nivar.

Tar Heel fans know that she's up for the challenge just as she was throughout her UNC women's basketball career. It's a tremendous honor for an outstanding student-athlete, someone who represented the University of North Carolina in an amazing way and made a long-lasting impact both on and off the court.

Now, Nivar is ready for the next chapter of her basketball journey, one that will take her to Atlanta to play at the professional ranks.
