Thaddeus Dixon's short tenure at North Carolina was hampered by injury, which played a significant role in him going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft.
A talented cornerback, Dixon quickly signed with the New York Giants following the conclusion of the draft, hoping to earn a roster spot as an undrafted free agent. Unfortunately, the injury bug has hit Dixon once again, as he suffered a devastating injury that will sideline him for a significant amount of time.

Ian Rapoport reported that Dixon suffered a torn Achilles during a workout session. He later added to his report that the Giants placed him on injured reserve.

This news is extremely frustrating for Dixon, especially given how his final collegiate season was drastically impacted by injuries. Mostly due to a hamstring injury, Dixon was limited to just seven games in his lone season at North Carolina, as his presence was felt when he stepped onto the field as a Tar Heel.
Smith Vilbert seizes his opportunity to prove his worth during rookie minicamp
In fact, Dixon essentially took away one side of the field away when he was on it, as Pro Football Focus had him allowing just 16 catches on the year (one which resulted for a touchdown).
Injury concerns were definitely the main factor in his not being selected in this year's draft class, as talent-wise, you could make the case that he could've been selected anywhere from the third to the fifth round. Unfortunately, it didn't play out the way Dixon hoped, and this injury is devastating in his pursuit of earning an NFL roster spot.
While this is another setback, Dixon is poised for a major comeback, as he will attack this rehab process with full force, working his way back to full strength. Once he gets there, there's no doubt that Dixon will prove to the world that he is an NFL caliber corner and deserves an opportunity to compete at the next level.
