Taliyah Henderson was one of three players from last season's UNC women's basketball roster to enter their name into the transfer portal.

Lanie Grant (TCU) and Elina Aarnisalo (UCLA) previously found new homes, but Henderson's recruitment took a little bit longer.

On Wednesday, that recruitment came to an end, as Henderson will be staying within the ACC at her next landing spot.

Taliyah Henderson commits to Clemson

Henderson has committed to continue her college basketball career at Clemson. She will head to Clemson with three seasons of eligibility remaining.

After missing extended time in high school due to injury, Henderson was expected to need some time to develop once she arrived on campus. There was no doubt that she has an insane amount of potential, as her high motor, athleticism, and energy show every time she's on the court.

However, she was limited in her role during her true freshman season, and it felt like her role declined dramatically in bigger games. You can understand Henderson testing the transfer portal waters in hopes of finding a bigger role elsewhere, something that Clemson was probably able to offer in their recruiting pitch.

While you never want to see young, promising players leave your program, it's sadly the current state of college athletics. Student-athletes will come and go, and you'll see plenty of players in different locations on a yearly basis.

North Carolina did lose some talented players to the transfer portal. No one is denying that one bit. However, Courtney Banghart and her staff have done a tremendous job in replenishing the roster, holding onto its core while adding players around that group that will all hopefully gel together to form one of the nation's best squads.

In this day and age, it's okay to root for former Tar Heels to succeed elsewhere. Of course, when Henderson matches up against her former team, Tar Heel faithful will be hoping that she's on the losing end of the contest!
