Tuesday night will be emotional enough with UNC celebrating its annual 'Senior Night.' However, we can all take that emotion up a notch when the program officially welcomes RJ Davis' No. 4 jersey into the Dean Smith Center rafters.
After the original ceremony was postponed due to weather, the Tar Heels found a way to get Davis to Chapel Hill for the team's final home game of the 2025-2026 season to celebrate the outstanding five-year career that Davis put together as a member of the UNC basketball program.
From clutch moments and iconic shots to re-writing the UNC basketball record books, Davis accomplished a lot during his college basketball career, one that will be remembered fondly for many years to come.
Now that his time in Chapel Hill has come to a close, Davis can now reflect a bit on his time at North Carolina, and an emotional video he released on social media goes to show just how much this means to him.
From White Plains, New York
In the video (which can be viewed below), Davis talks about his big upcoming moment. In typical RJ Davis fashion, he jokes a bit about not making his speech too long (citing he expects to speak for a max of five minutes), but he also says some powerful words that show that this is all still so surreal for him.
We'll let RJ tell the story.

"Never would I have thought going to UNC and my freshman year that I'd put my jersey in the rafters," Davis said. "We're going to see how everything shakes out, but I can see ya'll back in Chapel Hill. I want the gym to be packed. Number four is going in the rafters."
UNC fans will love to hear that this iconic Senior Night tradition is returning
Davis never used his size as a crutch but made it a strength, as his heart and passion made him play as if he was the biggest player on the court. A "tough little nut" as Roy Williams would describe him, Davis never backed down from a challenge, and certainly was never afraid of taking a shot in a big moment.
Trust us, he made many of those shots (and followed it with his iconic signature eye goggles celebration!).
Davis' legacy
One day, future generations are going to look up into the Dean Smith Center rafters and see that No. 4 jersey proudly hanging among the other legends who have called North Carolina home.
When those individuals ask about RJ Davis, his story is one that is very motivational, as a undersized kid from White Plains, New York fulfilled his dream and proved all the doubters wrong.
"Why Not 4," is a simple slogan that will always be tied to Davis, and its one that truly signifies just what an incredible career he put together for the UNC basketball program.
