One time, long, long, long ago, we all really liked Rashad McCants.
However, for a guy who has his jersey hanging in the rafters of the Dean Smith Center, he sure knows how to piss off the UNC fan base.
How did UNC fans begin to hate Rashad McCants
When you win a national championship at North Carolina, you have to be a real jerk in order for the fan base to turn on you.
Insert McCants, a guy who continues to embarrass himself, pulling antics that have made the fans quickly turn against him.
A member of the 2005 national championship squad, McCants has some... outlandish ideas of what went down in Chapel Hill during his playing career, calling UNC a 'plantation' in his own words.
This set fellow former Tar Heels Raymond Felton and Theo Pinson over the edge, as both have come out publically on their podcast to expose his nonsense.
Of course, McCants doesn't know how to stop, as his latest antics take it a step deeper.
McCants' latest antic will make UNC fans livid
To put some context to the situation, McCants has spoken on his podcast (which, don't listen to unless you're extremely bored or just want to see what he spews out of his mouth next) about what it takes to score 81+ points in an NBA game, taking what he says he learned from Kobe Bryant.
When Bam Adebayo scored 83-points on Tuesday night, surpassing Bryant for the second-most points scored in a single game in NBA history, McCants had to find a way to make it about himself, posting a photo of himself in a Duke jersey.
Kobe’s 81!!!!!!!!!!!

Does this guy ever stop?
It's actually annoying at this point.
Sure, the "beef" with McCants and the Felton/Pinson podcast groups has generated buzz, as there's been a lot said in a back-and-forth between the two shows. However, McCants has done nothing but speak poorly about the University of North Carolina, particularly Roy Williams and his former teammates, as it's clear that the dude has a huge gripe for how he envisions his time in Chapel Hill went down.
Unfortunately, when everyone else has a different story, no one is going to believe you when you spew nonsense.
Rashad, go ahead and post wearing Duke gear. If you want to claim them (or any other program), go for it.
What we hope you realize is this: you went from being someone who many fans loved and adored to a guy who no one even wants to admit was a Tar Heel.
